"The Strawberry Poem" – Michelle Labelle

Superb-StrawBerry-Lip-e1351051301274As I wander through a valley of orbs

Behind the glass wall a green bush hides

I see a red flash of what treasure it holds

Christal leaves guard the jewel inside

With such insatiable curiosity

I peer through the leaves and see

The heart, a bright red berry

Not yet sweet enough to eat

I pick the seed freckled berry

And bring it slowly to my lips

Close my eyes to receive its scent

A fragrant, fruity mist

Surprisingly supple and pulpy sweet

Virgin flavors I always miss

Juicy and tart, how it tastes to me;

Like a nibble on my bottom lip after a kiss…
