Incite! Celebrates Bisexuality

London’s premier LGBTQ poetry night marks Bi Visibility Month with an evening dedicated to spoken word art that goes both ways.

Incite!@The Phoenix is the home of  LGBTQ+ poetry as diverse as we are, hosted by LGBT Poet Laureate Trudy Howson and taking place monthly in an iconic west end venue.

September’s Incite! celebrates the B in LGBT with performances from  Bella Cox and Dan Webber as well as an open mic slot. Admission free. 13th September, Phoenix Artists Club, WC2H.

 

 

LGBT Poet Laureate Pens Poem for Bisexual Visibility

13552684_264711050572220_1621650479_n-672x372 The LGBT Poet Laureate  has shared a new poem that tackles biphobia.

LGBT Poet Laureate Trudy Howson has written a poem that asks the wider LGBT community to examine its prejudices. She told Biscuit that she had used the phrase “let us love freely whatever our gender” as prompt to create the poem, which was written to mark Bisexual Visibility Day.  Trudy will read the poem at INCITE!’s bisexuality themed event on 14th September, but you can read it here first.

Bisexual Visibility Day

Do or die, laugh or cry, why not?
Gay or Bi, bold or shy, let’s not
Pretend we haven’t been there.
Or tell ourselves we aren’t aware.

Lets not judge, just because we,
Haven’t experienced the possibility.
Let’s put our prejudice aside
Be Gay or Bi, no need to hide.

Calling Bisexual Poets!

77145_166372606726066_7259951_nINCITE@The Phoenix WC2 is putting out a call to all bisexual poets to come to, perform at and enjoy our September Celebration of Bisexuality on Wed  14th September – just in time for bi visibility day.
We are looking for established poets for a 20 min guest spot, and all types of poet for our open mic section.
In September our theme is: Who Why and How we are.
INCITE is a free monthly LGBT Poetry event supported by Camden LGBT Forum. It showcases poetry as diverse as our community, in an iconic West London venue.
