Tonight you can livestream a team of bi campaigners at the White House, challenging US government leaders on on bisexual awareness and inclusion.
The committee says: “This briefing will focus on policy and cultural issues of significance for the American bisexual community as a part of the White House’s effort to help increase visibility of bisexual people during Bisexual Awareness Week (September 19th – 26th, 2016).”
At the time of writing, there was just over an hour and a half to go (there’s even a handy countdown on the YouTube page)! We can hardly wait…
An academic at an Australian university recently spoke to 78 women of varying sexual orientations about their relationships with bisexual men. Some of the research has been used in Dr Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli‘s new book, Women in Relationships with Bisexual Men: Bi Men By Women.
“These mixed-orientation relationships or what I call MOREs, sit outside the boundaries of what many may consider a ‘normal’ relationship, whether it’s straight or gay,” says Pallotta-Chiarolli. “What the research has shown is that they are very real and valid and deserve our attention, support and understanding. It’s just that they’re something ‘more’ than most people expect or accept.”
Pallotta-Chiarolli hopes that the book will dispel negative stereotypes about bisexual men: “That all bisexual men are untrustworthy and have secret affairs; that all bisexual men transmit HIV and STIs to women; that all bisexual men are abusive to their women partners.”
“While we… Continue reading
Eighteen-year-old Amityville: The Awakening actress Bella Thorne has finally responded to a flurry of Twitter queries about her sexuality.
After a Snapchat photo of Thorne kissing another woman emerged on Monday, speculation was rife as to what it meant. Yesterday, she answered with a simple “Yes” when Twitter user @iemagazinn asked her “Are you bi?”

It’s not often you see a celeb publicly shamed for a spot of casual biphobia, alas. But that seems to be exactly what’s happened to actor Christopher Biggins, who has just been turfed out of the Big Brother house for “making comments capable of causing widespread offence”.
The folks at Channel 5 are being a bit cagey about exactly which comments these are. However, it seems incredibly likely that his suggestion that “bisexuals are the worst kind” because they are simply “people not wanting to admit they’re gay” who can’t “pick a team” might well have been the catalyst.
Biggins made the comments on Tuesday during a discussion with fellow housemate Renee Graziano. His words caused an outcry, inspiring three major LGBT charities with whom he boasts a longstanding involvement – Stonewall, The Peter Tatchell Foundation and the Terrence Higgins Trust – to announce that they… Continue reading
Most of the women I’ve ever fancied have scared the hell out of me. OK, I’ve said it. As a result, I’ve probably let a lot of you slip through my fingers over the years… and I don’t mean the good kind of slippery fingers. I’ll confess, if you rated me on my general modes of sexual behaviour between puberty and my current age of 32 rather than my feelings, you’d likely call me a low Kinsey 2 at best. The only reason I still know which way up a woman goes is probably because of my impressive memory and imagination … and on occasion my internet connection. I feel horrendously guilty of hiding in my “straight privilege” when I look at past conquests, even though “straight privilege” is a crazy term coined by crazy people.
If you’re female/female-spectrum, into women, I like you and I’m not making my feelings… Continue reading
It’s OK to be violent towards us, though, it seems – maybe you can beat the bi out? Yeah, smack us about a bit. Maybe we’ll learn to follow the straight and narrow. Thank you, US Morning Show commentator Peter Ford, for your helpful words. Whether or not Depp really did attack Heard, the fact remains that her sexuality is entirely irrelevant to the case. But, as ever, if you’re bisexual it usually gets dragged in as an issue anyway… I’d say the alleged physical attack was worth more airplay, but what do I know? I’m just a fickle bisexual. I’ll have changed my mind by tomorrow.
“I probably shouldn’t say this,” Ford insisted during this broadcast yesterday, “but it’s not wise to marry a bisexual”. Ms Heard “travelled across to the other side” to be with with Depp, according to Ford, and Ford made clear his feelings that… Continue reading
